The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bugri Naabu has accused the party`s Members of Parliament (MPs) of the region for sabotaging the party.

He indicated that many of the MPs of the party in the region were working very hard to divide the front of the party in the region.

Mr Naabu was addressing the Northern Regional NPP Delegates’ Conference in Tamale on Sunday.

He lamented that the recent actions and inactions of some of the MPs in the area had the potential to destroy the party in the region.

“Instead of them explaining government policies and programmes to the supporters and the citizenry they are rather planning to unseat some of the current municipal and district chief executives (MDCEs).

This, he warned “if not check immediately would affect the party’s fortunes in the 2020 general election in the region.”

Mr Naabu denied that there was bad blood between himself and the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, stressing “I have no problem with the minister, we have good working relationship.”

He noted that rather it was some of the MPs who were trying to create confusion between him and the regional minister.

“I am sorry to say that our party MPs that we have worked hard for their victories are turning against us doing all that they can to create disunity in the party” he stated.

Mr Naabu called on the President and national executives to call the MPs to order before they completely destroy the party in the region.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Saeed assured the supporters of initiatives to be rolled out soon by the government and they should cooperate with government appointees to successfully implement the policies and programmes to benefit the citizenry.

He pledged to work closely with the MDCEs to fulfill the promises the party made during the campaign period.
