Over 200 market women in the Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency were supported with over GH¢288,000 MASLOC loans to enable them to revamp their businesses after the June 3 flood disaster.
A Ghana News Agency report said the support was in line with government programme to assist the June 3 flood victims to re-start their businesses after the massive loss.
Speaking at a short ceremony, Mr. Shadrach Quarcoo, Greater Accra Regional Manager of MASLOC, said the loan attracted two per cent interest and is the lowest in the country.
He said the women have two months grace period after which they would begin to repay the loan within a one year period, and urged them to take advantage of the soft nature of the loan to repay promptly.
Mr. Mustapha Abubakar, Deputy Executive Director of MASLOC, said they are very passionate about issues concerning women and pledged their continuous support in that direction.
He advised the women to repay the loan early to enable them to benefit more from the scheme.
Mr. Bright Demordzi, Member of Parliament for Bortianor/Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, also pledged his continuous support for the women and appealed to them to reciprocate the gesture by paying back the loan on time.
Ms. Carole Ann Akati, spokesperson for the women, thanked the officials for the gesture and assured them of their preparedness to pay back on schedule.
