OWUSU Bonsu from the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi has emerged winner of the 83rd edition of the Airtel Ghana Golf Open which ended at the Achimota Golf Club on Monday.
The event ended as a straight battle between the host and the Royal Golf Club as most of the awards were won by the two clubs till Bonsu finally emerged as winner of the main Men’s Scratch Group A to walk away with the ultimate trophy.
Yaw Dogbe from the Achimota Golf Club and Daniel Ntim recorded a net score of 226 and 227 respectively to settle for the second and third positions.
In the Ladies Scratch Group A event, it was Jessica Tei of the Achimota Golf Club who stole the show to win the trophy with and amazing score of 243.
Though she had a slow start, Jessica managed to pick herself up on the final day to come out tops in the keenly contested category.
The three-day event saw several golfers from across the country and beyond battling for honors in separate categories.
There were other events including the Ladies and Men Handicap Group A and B and the longest drive as well as the closest to the pin players were also awarded.
Managing Director of Airtel and CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year, Lucy Quist praised the golfers for turning up for the event and pledged his continuous sponsorship.
“I am impressed with the level of patronage over the three days and have enjoyed the game and would surely sustain the event,” she added.
