Bobikuma ICT Opens At Last

The Agona West Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has posted an ICT teacher to manage the Lower Bobikuma Second Lady-Assisted ICT Centre which has been abandoned for over a year now.

This followed a publication of a GNA report in The Ghanaian Times of a complaint by Mrs. Sarah Oppong, a Government-appointeed assembly member of Lower Bobikuma, at an assembly meeting at Agona Swedru, that the newly built ICT Centre inaugurated by the Second Lady a year ago, remained unused due to the absence of an ICT teacher.

Mrs. Oppong also complained that the Assembly had failed to provide chairs for the Centre.

After the publication, a visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the ICT Centre revealed that the newly-posted teacher, Mr. Michael Sam, had assumed duty. He was found leading some pupils to clean the computers and the hall.

Speaking to the GNA, Mr. Sam explained that the Agona West Directorate Education gave him a letter dated  November 1,  to manage  the centre, but because of the nation-wide strike action declared by the 12 labour unions, he could not report until now.

Mr. Sam appealed to the authorities to provide him with the necessary teaching materials to make his work easy.
