Blame Africa’s Problems On Poor Leadership—Ex-Pres. Kufuor

kuffourFormer President John Agyekum Kufuor has blamed Africa’s under development on what he said is the lack of good leadership.

President Kufuor therefore called for the mentoring of a new kind of leadership in Africa that would be properly equipped to deal with the problems of the continent.

He was speaking at the outdooring of Professor Baffuor Agyemang Duah as the Chief Executive Officer of the J. A. Kufuor Foundation,

“After being in frontline politics for over four decades, which culminated in serving the last eight years as President of Ghana, I came to the final conclusion that the root cause of Africa’s under development was the lack of good leadership,” he said.

He noted that the continent has had many rulers but not leaders who would add to the development of the continent.

Former President Kufuor was confident that, should Africa get the leadership question right, development would be on course.

Prof. Duah announced that the foundation would seek to promote effective leadership, democratic governance and socio-development in Ghana and Africa through advocacy, programmatic interventions and strategic partnerships.

The foundation would provide mentorship for African youth, some of whom would get scholarships to pursue their studies.

He announced that an election monitoring unit would also be set up to support the conduct of free and fair elections on the continent.

The foundation would also support agricultural production on the continent and join in the efforts to stem climate change and advance environmental sustainability.
