Blacksmith, 50, Held For Manufacturing Weapons

IMG_8911A 50-year-old black-smith has been nabbed by the Accra Regional Police Command for possession of unregistered weapons.
Kwasi Ahiadalakpa was said to be manufacturing weapons for individuals and criminals at Adawso, in the Eastern Region.

The weapons retrieved from him by the police included 10 locally manufactured SB shot guns, five local pistols and seven empty cartridges,
Others are four live cartridges, five unassembled SB shot guns and a number of assorted tools used in the manufacturing of weapons.

Briefing the media in Accra yesterday, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno said on July 4, personnel from the Accra Regional Police Command acting upon a tip-off, proceeded to Adawso and mounted a search at his shop and retrieved a number of weapons from him.

He said the suspect initially denied ownership, but upon further interrogation, he claimed ownership and proceeded to convince the police that he had licence to undertake his work.

However, when asked to produce the document to that effect, Ahiadalakpa failed to do so. He is currently in police custody awaiting prosecution. – Agnes Opoku Sarpong
