Black Queens switch camp to Kumasi

Ghana senior female national football team, Black Queens commenced a regional tour to keep the players in shape ahead of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nation (AWCON).

The event is scheduled for November 17 to December 1 and the event is geared at getting the players ready for the showpiece.

They will engage some local clubs in a series of friendly matches to be match fit for the tournament following the lack of competitive football in the country over recent football confusion that followed an investigative documentary revealing widespread corruption in football administration in Ghana.

The tour took Coach Bashir Hayford and his charges to Kumasi in the Ashanti region yesterday to continue their preparations for the tournament. The team will train at the Baba Yara stadium at 3:00 PM.

Sources close to the team indicate that they will visit the Ashanti regional minister and the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly at 9am today. They will then pay a visit to the Executive Chairman of AshantiGold FC Dr Kwaku Frimpong at his residence.

The team will play a friendly match with Kumasi Sports Academy at 3pm at the Baba Yara stadium.

The Black Queens will then wrap up their Ashanti regional tour on Friday with a game against a Kumasi select side at the Baba Yara stadium at 3.

The team will then travel to the Brong Ahafo Region to continue their preparation.-footballinghana.com
