Black Meteors-Togo clash deferred

Ghana’s 2019 CAF U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo has been postponed.

This follows a request from Ghana’s Normalisation Committee to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a change of date due to the hosting of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations finals (AWCON).

The Black Meteors were originally scheduled to play the Junior Hawks of Togo in the first round first leg on Friday, November 16 and the return leg in Lomé the following week.

But per the new arrangement, the Black Meteors will now play Togo on December 18, 2018 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and the second leg in Lomé four days later.

The winner will face Gabon in the next round.

The Black Meteors are seeking to represent Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Ghana was the first African nation to win a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in football, but Nigeria and Cameroun have since won gold in the event.
