A 35-year-old woman is in the grips of the police for allegedly stealing GH¢10,000 from a shop at Tudu in Accra.
Ekua Sarponmaa, a beautician, was said to have stolen the money from the bag of the shop owner when she entered it to buy cloth on Wednesday.
The Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Effia Tenge, told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that suspect was in custody of the police assisting in investigations.
The Public Affairs Officer said the owner of the shop (name withheld) offered the suspect a seat to enable her attend to her request.
She said whiles sorting out some itesms, Sarponmaa took the GH¢10,000 from the owner’s bag and hid it in the bulk of clothing in the shop.
ASP Tenge said when the shop owner realised that her money was missing, and confronted Sarponmaa, who admitted the offence.
ASP Tenge stated that Sarpomaa was handed over to the Police, adding that the suspect would soon be put before court.
