Bata Opens Biggest Retail Outlet In Accra

bataBata, a leading global footwear retailer and manufacturer has opened its biggest retail outlet at the Oxford Street Mall at Osu in Accra.

The opening of the retail outlet follows a successful launch of Bata onto the Ghanaian fashion industry in August, 2011.

Currently, Bata has three outlets in Accra.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mrs. Caroline Ochieng, Managing Director of Padua Collections, the franchise owner of Bata, said Bata has been performing creditably in Ghana since it was launched nearly three years ago.

She added: “Bata’s strength lies in its worldwide footprint, serving over one million customers per day, employing over 40,000 people, operating 5,000 retail stories, manages a retail presence in over 50 countries with 33 production facilities across 22 countries. No one in the world knows shoes like we do.”

Bata manufacture and sell internationally recognised brands of shoes like Marie Claire, Bata Comfit, Toughees, Bubblegummers, Babybubbles, Weinbrenner, Tommy Takkies, Power, North Star and others.

Mr. Nasir Rafiq, Director of Bata responsible for new markets within Africa disclosed that, Bata plans to open another three outlets this year adding that, “the franchise’s strategic intent is to open more than 15 outlets in Ghana by the year 2016”.

Besides Ghana, Bata has outlets in other African countries including Botswana, Congo (RDC), Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
