BARG Congratulates GCAA Director-General

BARB PixThe Board of Airlines Representative in Ghana (BARG), has congratulated the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Air Commodore Kwame Mamphey on his appointment as the President of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC).

As part of the commendation, BARG presented a plague to the Director-General, and noted that the appointment was an honour to the nation’s aviation industry.

Gloria Yirenkyi, an Executive Member of BARG who led the group’s delegation to call on Air Commodore Mamphey, also commended him for the dedication and commitment towards promoting the industry.

Additionly, she assured the management of GCAA of the continued support and cooperation of BARG to enhance the performance of the industry, adding that there was the need to maintain the high standards achieved in Ghana.

Air Commodore Mamphey, on his part, thanked the BARG for their assistance and dedicated the appointment to all stakeholders who continued to contribute to the improvement in the performance of Ghana’s aviation industry.

He said the appointment was indicative of the confidence other African countries had in Ghana’s aviation industry, and stressed the need to protect that credential.

As AFCAC President, he said his major priority was to ensure a reduction in the number of aviation accidents, as well as ensure that member states meet the International Civil Aviation Organisation minimum requirements.

According to him, the growth of Ghana’s domestic aviation industry was due to the liberalisation policy embarked upon by the GCAA, and gave the assurance that more measures would be enforced to promote aviation safety in Ghana and Africa in general.
