The Portuguese international, who arrived in a £41.7 million deal from fellow La Liga side Valencia, arrived at the city’s airport this evening and went to the club’s training ground for the snaps after passing a medical.
Playmaker Gomes, 22, starred for his country as they lifted the Euro 2016 trophy and has been a mainstay for Valencia for the past two seasons.
He began his career at Benfica before impressing on a season-long loan deal with Valencia, which earned him a permanent move.
A tall but atletic midfielder, he scored five goals in all competitions last term and made 41 appearances.
There was sustained interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, but he opted to stay in Spain and make the switch to the Nou Camp.
Gomes starred in midfield for Portugal as they won Euro 2016.
Speaking to Barcelona’s official TV station, he said he hopes to “enjoy nice moments, to learn, play and help in the best way possible.”
