A barber, accused of defiling a 14- year-old girl at Klagon, near Sakumono in Tema, appear-ed before an Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Richard Asiam pleaded not guilty to defilement and the court, presided over by Aboagye Tandoh, remanded him in custody until August 12.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Grace Bandoh said the complainant was a driver and the father of the victim, both of whom lived at Klagon with the accused.
Chief Inspector Bandoh said a month ago, the complainant warned the accused person to cut off any friendship with the victim since he was not happy with the relationship.
Strangely, Asiam arranged a meeting with the victim at about 12 midnight, on July 28, and had sexual intercourse with her.
Prosecution said at about 3:30 a.m. that day, the complainant caught the victim coming out of Asiam’s room and when questioned, she reported that Asiam had sexual intercourse with her.
Chief Inspector Bandoh said Asiam was arrested while a medical form was issued to the victim to go to hospital to be examined and treated.
According to the prosecution, Asiam in his caution statement, admitted the offence.
