Ban on hampers still in force

DR.OMANE BOAMAH MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS (5)Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been reminded that the President’s ban on the procurement of Christmas gifts and presents with Government funds is still in force.

A statement issued and signed by the Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and copied to The Ghanaian Times, said the 2013 directive targeting all MDAs financed from the Consolidated Fund “is still in force and all concerned are expected to comply”.

President John Dramani Mahama last year, banned heads of MDAs from using government funds for the purchase of hampers as Christmas gifts.

The ban greatly affected the sale of baskets purposely weaved for use as hampers during the Christmas season.
