Bale extends contract to 2022

BaleGareth Bale insists he will never return to the Premier League and wants to end his career with Real Madrid.

The Welshman had his new six-year deal at the Champions League holders confirmed on Monday.

And asked whether he can see his final game being at the Bernabeu, he said: “For sure, last game here. The reason I signed here is because I’m very happy here.

“I’m improving my Spanish and my family are settled. I fully intend to see out my contract here.

“I don’t know when I’m going to retire but I’m very happy. For the nest six years I’m not looking past here.

“I feel loved here by the fans and I want to give everything for the shirt to win as many trophies as I can.”

Bale was wanted by Manchester United but the winger, who will be 33 when his deal expires in 2022, is targeting domination with Madrid.

And he even backtracked by admitting he would happily take a Ballon d’Or win.

He said: “I’m obviously very, very happy. When I first came here I wanted to succeed here, to be sitting here with a new contract is another dream come true.

“Hopefully, there are more titles to win again.

“We want to win every trophy every year. I’ve signed here again because I believe we can keep winning the Champions League and La Liga.

“We want it all this year. It’s important I keep scoring goals and assisting.

“As for the Ballon d’Or if you’re playing well then these things will happen. I don’t think about it but if it did ever happen it would be fantastic.

“Being here has made me grow up more as a person. I came here to try something different. It’s never easy.

“History tells you when British players travel abroad it’s never usually greatly successful.

“The season I wasn’t at my best gave me more confidence to deal with whatever was thrown at me.

“Now, I’m fully concentrated on playing for Real Madrid.”
