‘BA To Remain Carrier Of Choice’

Moran Birger.jpg1111Mr. Moran Birger, the new Commercial Manager for British Airways, Ghana says he is poised to building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessor.

He said the airline had been the carrier of choice for passengers  travelling to London and beyond because of the quality of service being offered by the airline.

Speaking to a section of the press in Accra, he said the airline had commenced its morning flight from Accra to London to give passengers the choice in their travel plans.

With the commencement of the morning flights it means the British carrier has added three extra flights to its current seven times weekly schedule, bringing to 10 its total flights from Accra to London.

BA now has two flights; morning and evening every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and one flight on the other days of the week. The three extra flights would be operated with a Boeing 767 aircraft.

Mr. Birger said the decision signified the airline’s confidence in the growth of Ghana, as well as the future of aviation in Ghana.

Commenting on special package for passengers for the Christmas, he said, the airline had slashed its fares on some important routes.

BA will now charge $ 389 on its Traveller (Economy Class), $ 680 on World Traveler Plus (Premium Class), $1,699 on Club World (Business Class) and $ 2,799 for First Class between now and early next year.

He said the airline would introduce Boeing 747 aircraft on the Accra-London route in March next year.

British Airways (BA) has been operating in Ghana for the past 75 years and celebrated the anniversary last year with several activities including a launch and a press trip.

The airline began operating in Ghana in 1937 with the DH86 Diana class aircraft operated by Elders Colonial Airways, a one-weekly service between Southampton and Accra.

Since then BA has grown in leaps and bounds and currently operates daily flights to Accra on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft with a four-class configuration featuring innovative First class product, club world (business class), world traveller plus and world traveller.
