The Ashaiman Divisional Police Command is to clamp down on miscreants in ghettoes in the area, following reports that the structures have become a convenient hideout for criminals.
It is believed that several miscreants hung out there to plan on how to execute their criminal activities.
The decision comes after several swoops in the Ashaiman municipality led to the arrest of a number of suspects.
The Command has also intensified the fight against narcotic drugs because a significant number of such criminals patronise such ghettoes which use substances suspected to be cocaine and Indian hemp to produce drinks, biscuits, soup, and candies for sale to customers.
The Ashaiman District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Seth Tay, told The Ghanaian Times that “there is a correlation between drugs and crime,” and the Police would not give any law breaker a chance in the area.
“Criminals have only two options, which is either to change their ways, or have themselves arrested,” he said.
DSP Tay also called on the public to support the Police with information to win the fight against crimes.
