Ashaiman Gets Diagnostic Centre

A new diagnostic centre called the Integrated Diagnostic Solutions Limited has begun operations in the Ashaiman municipality.

The centre, which is a subsidiary of New Crystal Health Services, will assist medical practitioners in the municipality to correctly identify and manage various diseases.

The inauguration of the ultra-modern centre, coincided with a Valentine’s Day blood donation exercise, also held in Ashaiman and organised by New Crystal Health Services, in collaboration with ace hip-life artiste, Okyeame Kwame, popularly known as Rap Doctor.

The blood donation was held in response to reports of acute shortage of blood at the National Blood Bank, at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Inaugurating the health facility, Chief Executive Officer of New Crystal Health Services, Dr. Wisdom Amegbletor, emphasized the need for the country to pay attention to health issues.

He said it was paramount for every person to know his or her state of health at all times by having regular tests at diagnostic centres.

Hip-life artiste, Okyeame Kwame, who has initiated number of health related projects, said it was important for people to donate blood, so that the National Blood Bank would always have enough stock to give out to people who need it.

He said supporting slow donation on Valentine day was to great show of love, and urged the public to pay attention to their health and  voluntary donate blood to the Blood Bank.

The Director of the Ashaiman Municipal Health Service, Dr. EsiThersonCoffie, noted that healthcare delivery in the area could not be done by the public sector alone, hence the opening of the diagnostic centre to ensure that “ a greater proportion of our hardworking population of Ashaiman have access to quality diagnostic tests”.

She said allied health services was an important and integral part of health care, explaining that detecting and diagnosing disease more rapidly and at an earlier stage even before symptoms occur, was necessary.

The Unit Director of the Integrated Diagnostic Centre, Dr. Carl NiiLomotey Engmann, said that the cost of medical care was keeping many people away from accessing good medical care.

He said the diagnostic Centre was therefore set up to provide consistent, reliable, affordable and trusted service on time to clients.

Dr. Engmann said the cost and package of services available at the centre were tailored to suit the demograph of Ashaiman and its environs, adding that it covered food vendors, pre-employment screening and corporate workers, as well a package for people who are 40 years and above.

These, he indicated are different from the regular test that individuals will request for.
