Arsenal can still challenge for the Premier League title despite a lack of summer signings, according to former Gunners defender Sebastien Squillaci.
France international Squillaci – who spent three seasons in north London between 2010-13 – is currently preparing for the new Ligue 1 season with Bastia.
And he believes Arsene Wenger’s side have what it takes to improve on their second-placed finish despite the arrival of some huge players and managers in the English top-flight.
“Last season, they Arsenal finished second and they have gained a lot of experience over the years,” he told Goal.
“They reinforce their team each year and even though they didn’t make many transfers this summer, I think Arsenal will be among the title contenders.
“We saw several movements in the Premier League in terms of coaches and they all have a lot of experience of winning trophies with big clubs.
“I think it will be a good fight for a league that is already financially on another planet. There will be many quality games and it will be a good season.”
