A 54-year-old Lebanese, Ahmed Safiageen was yesterday morning shot dead by four unknown gunmen in his car at the Tema Heavy Industrial area.

The deceased, who was a cashier at the Delta Agro Company, a soap making factory, was allegedly robbed of GH¢200,000 meant for payment of salaries for staff and other expenses at the factory.

According to the Tema Regional Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joseph Benefo Darkwah, the deceased had gone to withdraw money at the Zentith Bank located at the Tema Heavy Industrial Area.

He said initial investigations had revealed that, the victim after the bank transaction was on his way to the office when he was suddenly accosted by four armed men who fired several shots into his Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number GN 1174 -12 and absconded with the money.

ASP Darkwah said the robbers fired several times and sped off in a four-wheel drive.

He said the deceased was rushed to a medical facility but was pronounced dead on arrival and that the body had been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

He said the police got information about the robbery and moved to the scene of the incident, and that they were on a manhunt for the suspects.
