Armed robbers attack C.K Mining Company

The Nsawam District Police Command has mounted a search for eight armed robbers, who attacked the C.K Mining Company at Kofi Quaye near Nsawam, in the Eastern Region, last Sunday.

The robbers were reported to have exchanged gunfire with a policeman on duty at the company, and made away with an unspecified amount of money and a pump action gun from the company.

Two staff of the company were said to have sustained gunshot wounds on the hand and shoulder during the crossfire.

Superintendent of Police (Supt) Marian Osei Adu-Owusu, the District Police Commander, who confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times, here, yesterday, gave the assurance that the police would leave no stone unturned in arresting the suspects.

She said on September 2, between 2am and 3a.m, the suspects attacked the company, and exchanged fire with the policeman on duty at the company, and called for police re-enforcement, to bring the situation under control.

Supt Adu-Owusu said by the time the re-enforcement came to assist the policeman, the robbers had bolted, and two people at the company, who sustained gunshot wounds, were rushed to the hospital.

She said the police have commenced investigations into the case, and asked workers at hospitals and herbal centres to report any person, who might report to the facilities with gunshot wounds, to the police.

Supt Adu-Owusu appealed to the public to provide reliable information to the police to assist in arresting suspects.

He said “crime combating is a shared responsibility and we call on the public to provide information to the police to fight crime in the country”.
