Helen Appah emerged winner of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Amateur Series played at the Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono in Accra on Saturday.

Appah beat a stiff competition from established golfers across the country to record an impressive gross score of 37 to walk away with the ultimate prize of an all expenses paid trip to Turkey to represent Ghana at the world finals in Turkey. She also received a huge trophy from the organisers.

Her closest contender, Geofrey Avornyotse also recorded a gross of 37 but beaten on comeback by Appah to settle for the second position.

Avornyotse who is the new Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club walked away with an attractive trophy from organisers.

Other winners on the day include, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong who came third with a score of 36 while the Lowest Gross winner went to Francis Akwasi Opoku who had a gross score of 79.

The Nearest to the Pin (Ladies and Men) went to Aileen Conteh and Jack Yang respectively.

There was also a raffle draw which saw Teye Lartey win a business class ticket from Turkish Airlines to any destination of his choice while Papa Danso had a miniature Turkish Airline flight.

Sales Manager at Turkish Airlines, Ertugrul Danaci expressed gratitude to the golfers who showed up for the competition.

He said the airline was committed to organising the competition to give golfers the chance to participate at the world stage and show their class.

He congratulated the winner for a good show and asked other golfers to continue working hard for subsequent competitions.
