Lightweight boxer Michael ‘One Bullet’ Ansah has vowed to ‘discipline’ and demolish Sheriff ‘One Time’ Quaye beyond recognition when they clash on the Box Office Promotion’s Bukom Brawl fight night at the Bukom Boxing Arena on March 8.
The headline bout would have at stake the national lightweight title and an opportunity to fight for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) African title later in the year.
This would be the second time both boxers would share the ring after Ansah lost his bid to win the title in October last year, losing on points.
“Clearly I won the first fight but the judges gave Quaye the decision. This time I would not allow for that to happen, Ansah told the media on Tuesday.
‘One Bullet’, who goes into the bout with 15-9-2, 10 Kos record noted that he has corrected the mistakes of the first fight and would mount incessant pressure on Quaye; discipline him right from round one to round five where he hopes to end the fight.
“Sheriff Quaye is a truck pusher and not a boxer. On March 8, I will let him know that his rightful place is the streets and not in the square”
He urged his fans to ignore the decision of the first fight which he termed a ‘robbery’, and asked them to throng the venue early enough to witness the demolishing exercise to be carried on Quaye.
Ansah’s strong stance notwithstanding, Quaye, who comes into the bout with a fight record of 16-1-1, 9KO, believes Ansah does not stand a chance against him on the day.
“I know he is a good boxer but not in my league. In the ring, I would prove to him where he belongs.”
He agreed with Ansah’s call on the fans to throng the venue early but in his view, they would witness a different spectacle and not what Ansah promised.
“Am really surprised he accepted this fight. All the boxers that beat him are scared of me so what has he got to stand in front of me? He would surely know his fate after the fight; I pray his fans don’t abandon him on the day because they will be fully disappointed.”
Quaye said he agreed to fight Ansah as a sign of respect for the fans who called for a rematch to set the records straight and not because Ansah has anything different to offer from what he did in the first fight.
The night will see a return of former International Boxing Federation (IBF) world welterweight champion, Joshua Clottey who takes on Tanzanian Mfaume Mfaume in a 10 round International super welterweight contest.
Other bouts on the night would see Ghana’s Abraham Tabul face Patrick Ferguson of the United States in a WBO Africa cruiserweight championship over 12 rounds, Prince Dzanie will take on Loren Japhet of Tanzania in a bantamweight contest over 10 rounds.
The bill will also have a cruiserweight contest over 10 rounds between Nigeria’s Olanrewaju Durodola and Pascal Ndoma from Tanzania while Maxwell Awuku would take on Togolese Mouibi Serouna Armstrong in a super featherweight contest over 10 rounds.
