Armed robbers on Tuesday shot and killed one person and injured one other, on the Tinga-Gui road in the Bole District of the Northern Region.
The Bole District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David D. Azumah, who confirmed the incident to The Ghanaian Times, mentioned the name of the deceased as Iddi Abu.
He said the two were travelling from Tinga to Gui on a motorbike when armed robbers attacked them.
ASP Zumah said the armed robbers opened fire on them killing Abu on the spot, while causing injuries to his colleague, Issahake Mohammed.
He said the robbers took away mobile phones, undisclosed amount of money and a bag containing cloths from the victims.
ASP Azumah said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Bole hospital mortuary where the injured is also receiving treatment.
He said that no arrest has been made, however, investigations were ongoing to apprehend the culprits.
ASP Azumah appealed to the residents to assist the security agencies with information to enable them to arrest the culprits.
Some of residents in the Bole area complaint about frequent armed robbery attacks in the area and called for the security agencies to come out with measures to halt it.
Musah Alidu, a resident told The Ghanaian Times that about five people had been killed on that stretch of the road by armed robbers in recent times.
