Police last Friday smoked out a suspected accomplice in the killing of Constable Michael Kporyie from his hideout at Ashaiman Valco Flats.

Razak Salifu, also known as Baba, nearly escaped by scaling the fence wall of his house, but the police shot at his leg, and was sent to the Tema General Hospital.

Briefing journalists about the incident on Friday, the Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joseph Darkwah, said further investigations revealed that Salifu was one of the two suspects, who trailed the policeman of the Tema Rapid Deployment Force on a motorcycle and shot him, last week.

ASP Darkwah said when policemen arrived at Salifu’s house at about 2:00pm,he tried to escape, but police shoot him in the leg and rushed him to the Tema General Hospital.

It is recalled that The Ghanaian Times published in its Thursday, June 15, 2017, edition that police killed one of two suspects, Alhassan Adams, also known as Dogo America, (who killed the police constable) while on motorcycle on patrol duties at Afariwa, near the Michel Camp.

The other suspect, who rode on a motorcycle, went into hiding till the police stormed his house on Friday.

In a related development, police on Thursday impounded nine motorcycles from Alidu, at his house at Ashaiman Lebanon Zone two.

He is believed to be a member of Dogo America gang, who keep motorcycles that the gang uses for its activities.

On seeing the police, Alidu fled the scene, and the police are, therefore, appealing to the public to volunteer information that can lead to his arrest.
