The branch inauguration was to prepare the Zongo Caucus towards its national executive election and plans towards winning votes for the NDC in the 2016 general election.

Alhaji Mohammed Aska, Regional Co-ordinator of the caucus, said the NDC is the party of choice and members of the party must work hard to maintain the love Ghanaians have for it.

He said the party under the leadership of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and President John Dramani Mahama had improved the living conditions of Ghanaians.

Alhaji Aska said President Mahama announced that part of a $100 million fund sourced from Dubai would be channeled for the development of Zongos to improve educational infrastructure, basic social amenities such as water and sanitation and health.

He appealed to the people in the Zongos to continue to contribute their quota to the country’s development and called on them not to turn their back on the NDC.

“The NDC is the party of the Zongo Community,” he said.

Alhaji Williams Olabody, NDC Acting Constituency Chairman of Ayawaso East, said Ghana is experiencing rapid development under the NDC and appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind President Mahama to make it possible.

Alhaji Olabody appealed to supporters of the NDC to stay away from statements that have the tendency to destroy the party’s chances of winning the 2016 general election.—GNA
