Amansie West Assembly on course to achieve revenue target

The Amansie West District Assembly is on course to achieve its revenue target for 2018.

The Assembly has mobilised GH¢5,462,633.89 as at the end of August out of the expected revenue target of GH¢7,705,479.96, representing 70.06 per cent.

The performance is encouraging but innovative strategies are being adopted to rake in more revenue.

The Assembly will engage additional commission collectors and form a special revenue taskforce to augment efforts of the existing revenue staff.

Nil Larteh Ollenu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) disclosed this at the Assembly’s general meeting at Manso-Nkwanta.

He attributed the challenge of raking more revenue to augment government’s efforts to poor road network as most of them were in deplorable state, thereby having adverse effect on economic activities in the area.

“It is against this background that the Assembly has earmarked a total of 28.5 kilometres of roads in the district for reshaping by the end of October, some of the roads are Krofrom Junction-Manso Nkasu, Asarekrom Junction-Nyadeyeya-Nweneso No.3, Domi Junction-Domi, Asamang Junction-Yawkrom-Agroyesum and Yawhemenkrom-Atobrakrom-Mprenease.

“The Assembly will continue to invest in water infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted potable water supply to the people by revamping the Manso Atwere Water Board which is on the verge of collapse, with the installation of a new water pump and provision of two 1500 litres poly tanks,” Mr Ollenu assured. -GNA
