AMA to build millennium city school for Darkuman

Mr.Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije in the company of Mr Joe Appiah and Ms Tina Mensah breaking grounds for the construction of the school projectA SOD was cut on Tuesday for the construction of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s 107th Millennium City School for Salleria Cluster of Schools at Darkuman Kokompe, in the Ablekuma North Constituency in Accra.

So far, 11 of the AMA’s Millennium City School projects have been completed and inaugurated.

The three-storey 18-classroom project, estimated at GH¢2.5million, comprises of a library, a computer and science laboratory, a staff room and toilet facilities among others.

It is to be completed in January, next year.

The Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, who performed the sod cutting ceremony, said the Assembly was determined to invest in quality education to support the national agenda accessible and affordable quality education.

He was optimistic that the completion of the project would enhance education in the area, noting that a similar project was inaugurated in the area to improve the level of education.

He asked the pupils to make good use of the facilities by learning to improve their academic performance through which they could develop their potential.

“You need to produce the best results under this quality condition. To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.

He asked the construction firm, Phenopia Limited, to speedily execute the project having assured it of the Assembly’s support.

Joe Appiah, Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma North, lauded the project and commended the AMA for the initiative toward developing the education a system in the metropolis.
