The Akwantufo Welfare Club, a benevolent/self-help group in the Effutu municipality, has donated five Commode wheel chairs and their accessories, worth GH¢4.000.00 to two health facilities in the municipality.
Four of the wheel chairs were given to the Effutu Municipal Hospital and Baptist Hospital at Effutu Sankro.
Making the presentation separately at the premises of the facilities, Mr. K.B. Annan Jnr., Patron of the club, said the donation formed part of the club’s social responsibilities.
Mr. K. Obeng-Afari, Secretary of the club, disclosed that since its formation three years ago,it had supported the Effutu Municipal Hospital Children’s Ward with similar items, donated school uniforms, desks, chairs and tables to some public and private institutions in the municipality.
Mr. Moses A. Morgue, president of the club, said their objective was to help themselves and also give back to society, as their contribution to supplement what the government and other NGOs are offering to create the enabling environment for people to live.
Madam Margret Oklikah, Nurse Manager of the Effutu Municipal Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the management thanked the club for the continuous support and appealed to other groups to emulate the example of Akwantufo Club to come to their aid.
