Akufo Addo Relishes Position On Ballot

nanaThe two-twice presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo says his position on the ballot paper for the party’s special congress is immaterial.

“I know I will be third time lucky, so being sixth on the ballot paper is no source for worry,” he said.

As part of measures to whittle down the seven aspirants vying for the flagbearership position, a special congress would     be held in accordance with the NPP constitution, to elect five.

Due to this arrangement, balloting for positions was held at the party’s headquarter on Tuesday with former Trade and Industry Minister, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku picking the number one slot.

He was followed by former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng whiles Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimoh and MP for Asuogyaman, Kofi Osei Ameyaw picked the third and fourth positions respectively.

Two-time aspiring flagbearer, John Alan Kyerematen picked the fifth position, Nana Akufo-Addo, tipped by many to win the contest picked the sixth position and MP for Esikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey picked the seventh position.

The candidates have expressed satisfaction with their respective positions on the ballot paper, but Asamoah Boateng, who is second on the ballot paper, believed his number two spot is a sign of victory.

On Wednesday, Nana Akufo-Addo said no position on the ballot paper guaranteed victory.

He noted that their fate were in the hands of the discerning delegates who would vote in the special congress.

“The feedback I’m getting during my campaign tour is encouraging, and I am hopeful I will be third time lucky,” he stated.

Nana Akufo-Addo said he has been satisfied with the position and was certain of victory despite all the interpretations given to his position on the ballot paper.
