Akufo-Addo Kick-Starts Nationwide Campaign Tour

Akufo-Addo nA flag-bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will begin his nationwide campaign tour for his third bid as a presidential candidate at  Akoto Lante, in the Odododiodio constituency, Accra.

A press statement from the office of the twice presidential candidate of the NPP yesterday said the venue for the event would be Akwei’s House, “the historical meeting ground of the United Party (the Danquah-Dombo-Busia family), not far from Betty House, Swalaba, where Akufo-Addo was born”.

The statement stated that Nana Akufo-Addo would meet all 34 NPP constituency chairpersons in the Greater Accra Region, as well as other constituency executives. The NPP Members of Parliament in the region have also been invited to the event.

“At Akwei’s House, Nana Akufo-Addo would address party people, announce his regional campaign co-ordinators, and articulate the theme of his campaign. He would also talk about some of the major issues affecting the country”.

It added that, though the focus would be on party delegates for the primary, the flagbearer aspirant would also speak about the economy vis-à-vis “the rising cost of living, cost of production, unemployment and the political turbulence from public agitations, as a result of public anger and disillusionment with the government”.

According to the release, Nana Akufo-Addo believed the major issues confronting the people of Ghana today were around the increasing sufferings visited on the people through bad economic policies, the breakdown of social services, and the loss of confidence in the President and his administration to offer credible solutions.

“In solidarity with business people and consumers alike, Akufo-Addo would tour the commercial centre of the capital after addressing party people, with visits to Kantamanto, where he would meet leaders of various trade associations and move on to do the same at the Makola Market. From there, he would visit Okaishie, where Akufo-Addo and his entourage, including MPs and other party stalwarts, will interact with traders, shoppers and commuters”.

He would then continue to Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region on Wednesday, address party executives from all the constituencies and proceed to Tamale.
