The leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, has been arrested by the police here for alleged fraud.

She was said to have defrauded a trader of GH¢10,500 in connection with a purchase of a building plot.

The victim, Madam Ama Yeboah, was said to have bought the land in 2009, but the relatives of Madam Donkor have allegedly put pressure on the woman to stay away from the land.

According to a police source, Madam Donkor, was arrested at Manhyia, Kumasi, and handed over to the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command, to continue with investigations into the matter.

It is believed that the land allegedly sold by Madam Donkor belonged to her family members, who were said to have sworn never to allow any development on it, but Madam Donkor allegedly sold the 33-acre land and had failed to address the issue.

The source said the GFP leader after the sale of the land allegedly resorted to hide and seek with the victim and, efforts by the victim to reclaim her money had proved futile.

It said the victim got wind of the presence of Madam Donkor in Kumasi yesterday and alerted the police, who apprehended her.

As at press time yesterday, Madam Donkor was still at the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command where she was given her statement to the police.
