Airtel Introduces Free Insurance Scheme For Customers

airtelAirtel Ghana, in partnership with MicroEnsure and Enterprise Life, has launched a free insurance product for Airtel customers.

The three-in-one insurance schem, will offer Airtel customers life, accidental permanent disability and hospitalisation insurance with benefits increasing based on airtime usage.

The Airtel Ghana Managing Director, Philip Sowah, at the launch of Airtel Insurance in Accra Tuesday, said the product was available to any Ghanaian resident between the age of 18 and 75 years in any region in the country.

“Airtel Insurance rewards loyal Airtel customers with a renewable monthly life, permanent disability and hospitalisation cover based on the amount of monthly airtime used,” he said.

Mr Sowah explained that spending as little as GH¢5 with Airtel each month, and increasing their monthly usage, earn more insurance cover.

“Airtel Insurance becomes active on the first day of month following registration by dialling *580# and is based on the amount of airtime used the previous month, with a minimum monthly usage of GH¢5 to qualify for cover,” he said.

Mr Sowah noted that Airtel as a brand believes in innovation and bringing relevant products and services to its customers in Ghana, adding that, “we are doing it for free to thank them for their business”.

The Country Manager of MicroEnsure, Adjoa Boateng, said the product was like no other product in terms of affordability, accessibility and reliability.

She said the insurance product would provide millions of Ghanaians a safety net in what was mostly inevitable such as death, health related issues and personal accidents.

The General Manager of Enterprise Life Assurance Company Limited, Jacqueline Benyi, said her company’s partnership with Airtel would extend life insurance to many Ghanaians.

“This partnership, aims not only to improve the insurance penetration level but more importantly, the quality of life of many Ghanaians,” she said.

Ms Benyi said Airtel Insurance cover was a product designed to cover all subscribers of the vibrant evolving network, and described the product as tailor-made and a well packaged product that ensures that subscribers enjoy insurance cover. By Lucy Pomaa Arthur & Joyceline Natally Cudjoe
