AHISCO set for Homecoming

Scores of old students of Accra High School (AHISCO) will on Saturday, converge at the school for this year’s annual Homecoming celebration, amidst excitement.

This year’s homecoming, being held under the theme, “Rediscovering our purpose, AHISCO, our heritage,” comes in the wake of renewed commitment by the old students, known as Onukpai, towards the redevelopment of the school.

Apart from networking, it would serve as a platform to galvanise support for various infrastructural development interventions in the school for the benefit of the current and future students.

Various inter-house fun games, cooking competition, drumming and dancing, are among the activities that would characterise the event.

The fun games would be preceded by the election of a new national executive of the AHISCO Old Students Association that would be charged to build on the gains achieved in mobilising the alumni in assisting the school.

As part of the event, a counselling and mentoring session would be held on Thursday in which distinguished alumni would interact with the students on various topics including creative thinking and self-development, as well as abstinence from cyber crime, promiscuity and truancy.

The annual homecoming event, which brings together Onukpai of the various year groups, has the objective of building a strong alumni body to promote the redevelopment and progress of the school, which was established in 1923 as the first secondary school in Accra.
