GHACEM Limited has been adjudged the Overall Best Industrial Company of the year, at the fourth AGI Ghana Industry awards.

It was also recognised as the best company in the metals, building and construction sector.

The AGI Ghana Industry Award seeks to reward companies which have achieved outstanding success in various areas of industry and innovation in the year under review

This year’s event was under the theme, “Patronising made-in-Ghana products to build strong industries”

The citation accompanying GHACEM’s award noted its sterling contributions to the economy for national development.

It also mentioned the company’s corporate social responsibility, the Cement Foundation which gives free bags of cement to support infrastructural development in education and health institutions in deprived areas of the country.

The citation also cited the company’s role as an environmentally minded entity that ensures the promotion of biodiversity at its mining site.

Mr. Jorn Johansen, the Acting Managing Director, in his acceptance remarks, expressed gratitude to AGI for recognising the company’s hard work and assured that it would continue to produce quality cement locally made.

Speaking to the media later, Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, Strategy and Corporate Affairs Director of the company, said the company had for the past 48 years, consistently produced quality cement, employed a lot of Ghanaians, used local content in production, and paid attention to its corporate social responsibility through the Cement Foundation which had since 2002, donated about 390,000 bags of cement to health and educational institutions in deprived areas.
