Africa Zone 2&3 handball bronze for Ghana

Ghana’s Under-18 female handball team, Golden Hands, emerged bronze medal winners in a recently held Africa Zone 2&3 Handball Championship played in Cotonou, Benin.
The Ghanaians placed third behind, Burkina Faso and Benin, while Mali, Niger and Togo occupied the last three slots respectively.
The competition, was organised by the Confederation of Africa Handball (CAH), with support from the Handball Federation of France.
It was aimed at promoting the sport at the grass root level, by providing young players the platform to exhibit their talent.
The team is expected to form the nucleus of the national handball team in the near future.
A member of the team, Coach George Bankole told the media the target was to win gold but had to settle for bronze because the event was competitive.
“The standard exhibited at the competition was tough but our team gave a good account and we as an association will build on this success to make handball a success in Ghana,” he said.
