Afcons support flood victims in Doryumu.

AFCONS infrastructure Ghana Ltd, the company constructing the Tema – Akosombo railway, has made a donation of food items to victims of floods at Doryumu in the Shai Osudoku District in the Greater Accra Region.

At a brief gathering of chiefs and people of the area yesterday for the presentation of the items, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Ms Linda Ocloo said although the items would not be a solution to their predicaments, they would go a long way to alleviate the plight of the people.

The gesture of Afcons, Ms Ocloo said was a sign of responsible corporate social behaviour.

She therefore urged the community to cooperate with the company during their stay in the area.

The Deputy Managing Director of Afcon, Mr Jyotikanto Rout, said the donation was his outfit’s widow’s mite to mitigate the effects of the flooding on the people.

He advised residents putting up buildings to consult and seek expert advice to avoid flooding incidents in the future.

Mr Rout said the company had so far covered 68 out of the 96 kilometres railway project which would be terminating at Mpakadam in the Osogyaman district of the Eastern Region.
