Aduana aim at Hearts double

League leaders, Aduana Stars are edging closer to their dream of annexing the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League after upstaging previous leaders, WAFA after the weekend’s round of games.

Aduana became major beneficiaries of Tema Youth’s 1-0 upset of the fearsome Academy side and have their destiny in their own hands with five games to go.

This afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium, they face a tall hurdle in Accra Hearts of Oak in a dicey fixture of week 26 of the competition.

Fresh from their derby win over Great Olympics, Hearts have suddenly come into the picture, having narrowed the points adrift WAFA and a win will only edge them closer.

The Phobians are of the belief that failure to snatch victory could end their dreams and must send the Dormaa lads back home empty handed.

However, the performance against Olympics left much to be desired and would hope to have Winful Cobbinah back in the fold to provide the options in midfield; otherwise they would be forced to sit at the edges of their seat to see what Patrick Razak pulls up his sleeves from the wings.

But Aduana are fully prepared and every player determined to face the Phobians boot for boot.

Their biggest motivation would to record a double over the Phobians as the likes of Dennis Sasraku and Nathaniel Asamoah look poised to return.

In case of an Aduana slip, WAFA can take advantage of Olympics predicament and return to the top as they are expected to hand the relegation threatened side their third straight defeat at Sogakope.

WAFA has shown character and fortitude at their Sogakope base where giants like Hearts and Kotoko have fallen with authoritative score lines.

With that, the ‘AGOSU’ lads appear too fragile to cause any upset and it looks like another dominant display from the academy lads but Oly’s poise to give relegation a stern fight could see them pull a big surprise.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko are counting on the unexpected to jump to the top but on their own, it would be important to do what is expected of them.

It is in that light that the Porcupine Warriors would hope to beat Elmina Sharks in their own back yard when they clash this afternoon.

The Sharks breathed life into their campaign after a very poor start and are still fighting hard to avoid the drop and would surely give Kotoko a stern fight.

However, Kotoko, despite their troubles appear very strong for the Elmina greats who would also take inspiration from the determination of Bolga All Stars who fell 2-1 to Kotoko against the prediction of annihilation by pundits.

At the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park, Liberty Professionals would host Bechem United in a difficult encounter.

Not too far from the relegation zone, Liberty are candidates for the drop and face a must-win situation just like the other trying to escape and must improve if they hope to earn a point from Bechem.

Ashantigold SC would be at the Len Clay Stadium against Berekum Chelsea in another cagey encounter just as Inter Allies against Wa All Stars at the El-wak Stadium.

Bolga All Stars status for next season is confirmed and they do not stand any chance against a hungry Tema Youth when they meet at the Tamale Utrecht Park with Medeama hosting Dwarfs at Tarkwa.
