AdMA constructs school for deprived community

The Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) Chief Executive, Mr Daniel Alexander Nii Nio Adumah has cut sod for work to begin on two projects at a cost of GH₵ 3,441,283.87.

The projects are an 18 unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the cost of GH₵ 2,101, 263.87 and a three-storey semi-detached staff bungalow costing GH₵1,340,020.00 at New Legon and Lakeside Estate respectively.

The school will have kindergarten, primary and Junior High School (JHS) blocks. Other facilities include an office space, clinic, dining hall, kitchen, toilets, common room and computer laboratory.

Both projects would be funded through the internally Generated Fund (IGF) of the assembly with Rizcom Investment and Asmona Limited as contractors.

Mr Adumah said the first and second storey was expected to be completed in September, “so that children within the community would not travel long distances to acquire education.”

He added that the assembly was committed to ensuring access to education for all the children in the area.

On the accommodation for staff, he said the facility would be completed in 12 months to ensure that staff living afar get the opportunity to reside in the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency, Mr Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, said development in modern times was dependent on knowledge and knowledge acquisition began with education.

 He said the municipality would progress with an educated population, adding that the staff living in the municipality would enhance development in the community and also attract investment.

“This will also ensure cooperation among the staff of the assembly and residents to promote development,” he added

 Mr Asamoah therefore urged the assembly and the contactors to ensure the projects were completed on time.

 The Assembly Member for New Legon, Mr Atiemo Bekoe said the challenges of education facilities confronting children of school going age in the area would soon be a thing of the past.

He thanked the assembly for the facility and pledged his support to ensure that the facility was completed on schedule.
