Achimota School probes student’s death in hospital

The Board of Governors of Achimota School has set up a committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the death of Master Kevin Moses, a Form One student, at the 37 Military Hospital on December 4.
The committee is also expected to investigate and make recommendations to improve on health delivery responses, protocols for students and house staff in general.
The findings of the committee and any actions that results would be made public.
A statement signed by the board chair, Osei Kwame Agyeman,and copied to The Ghanaian Times said its attention had been drawn to media reports concerning the circumstances of Kevin’s referral to the hospital and subsequent care.
It said Kevin fell ill in the school and was taken to the Achimota Hospital, the designated first point of call for reported ill-health, on Friday, December 2, and his parents were duly informed.
Kevin’s situations however, worsened and he was subsequently transferred to the 37 Military Hospital the next day where he died on Sunday.
The statement expressed the board’s condolences to the family, saying, “His intelligence and pleasant personality as described by people who knew him, will never be forgotten”.
