The court presided by Worlanyo Kotoku adjourned the case to December 20, when the lawyers from the Attorney General’s Department, (AG) failed to show up due to strike.
On Tuesday October 5, Mrs. Francisca Tete-Mensah, a Principal State Attorney, said the delay in prosecuting the case was due to the fact that “although the docket was forwarded to the AG’s Office, it could not be traced hence the request for a copy from the Police.
Agboyie, charged with murder, changed his plea when he appeared in court in April, last year.
When the case was called, Agboyie recounted that he had regretted his deed, in the presence of the victim’s mother who attended the proceedings.
The incident took place at Kubekro No. one, near Atadeka in the Ashaiman Municipality.
Ruth Ankomah was a class one pupil of Meshach Academy School at Zenu, in Ashaiman, while the accused lived 200 metres away from the deceased’s house.
The prosecution said on April 19, last year, the deceased’s mother gave the girl GH¢20 to go and purchase bread at a nearby shop.
The Court heard that an informant told the mother that he saw the accused pulling the victim into his metal container.
Upon this information, the prosecution said, a search team went to the container, wth the accused nowhere to be found, but they found the naked body of the girl lying in a supine position on an old student mattress with blood oozing from her nostrils and mouth.
