THE Accra Premier Lions Club and Tema Supreme Club have jointly donated food items, detergents and used clothes to the Cured Lepers Village at Ho-Donorkodzi.

The cost of the items which included rice, cooking oil, bread, soft drinks, plantain, gari, washing powder, toilet and rolls among others, was not disclosed.

Madam Ellen Ewusi, President of the Premier Lions Club and Lion Emmanuel Dzamefe, President of the Supreme Lions Club who presented the items to the cured lepers said that the gesture was in line with the commitment of Lions to support the less-privileged in the society.

To show kindness to humanity is a hallmark activity of the Lions, they added.

They said that such donations were an annual programme and that the Lions would continue to support the cured lepers in various ways.

Mr. Nelson Atito, caretaker of the village expressed gratitude to the Lions for the donation, saying the gesture was highly touching.

He said that the donation came in handy as the village had almost run out of food stock at the time.

There has been an old bond of friendship between the village and the Lions who visit the cured lepers regularly and donate food and other items to them.
