Accra Poly ready for conversion into varsity

Speaking at a matriculation ceremony in Accra on Saturday, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Sylvester Achio, said the institution was working around the clock to address avoidable challenges in order to enable it become the first to start the concept.

He said laboratories, workshops, classroom spaces and blocks were being equipped to meet the requirement of a university status, adding that internally generated funds and resources from government and international partners were being used for that purpose.

In addition, Prof Achio said modern structures would also be built within the year on the polytechnic’s newly acquired land along the Pokuase road in Accra, indicating that lighting systems were being upgraded on the campus.

He indicated that both academic and administrative staff of the polytechnic, were undergoing skills upgrading for the conversion.

Prof. Achio advised the 5,209 new students to be diligent in their studies towards achieving their dreams.
