The 1997 year group of the Accra Newtown Experimental One Junior High School (JHS) has presented footballs, jerseys and other items worth GH¢9,000 to their alma mater.

The gesture was part of efforts to encourage the pupils to effectively combine their sporting activities with their academic duties.

Other items presented included white and black boards, markers, exercise books, pens and shavers.

President of the group, Israel Nornyibey said the occasion was also used to launch the 1997 Accra Newtown EXP JHS Old Students Association and they pledged to support the growth of their former school.

“It has been 21 years since we left school so we decided to get back and give to the school as responsible citizens and also to launch the Association, “he explained.

A donation was also made to the oldest teacher of the school, Mr Opare Ansah and the current headmaster of the school, Mr Daniel Doe.
