Access Bank boosts financial inclusion

ACCESS PIXIn line with its strategy of giving the power of banking to the underserved and unbanked population in Ghana, Access Bank has signed on over thirty thousand new customers under its Big Deal Promo.

Statistics indicate that there are about 2.5 billion unbanked individuals around the world and in Ghana; about 70 per cent of the adult population is unbanked

To attract more Ghanaians into the banking sector the bank launched a promo last year August targeted at existing and new customers of the bank, to encourage savings.

The campaign also rewarded customers with a complete home makeover and hundreds of electrical appliances in two mini draws and a grand draw.

The ultimate winner in the grand draw Mr. Ibrahim Apusiga, who banks with the Suame branch, received a luxurious bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen furnishing from Casa Trasacco. He also got a 55inch Samsung LED TV, a home theatre set and split air condition to complement his prize.

Mr. Apusiga, said “I am really a happy man today and I feel proud to have taken part in this promo. I didn’t believe I could win all these luxurious and expensive furnishings for my kitchen, dining, living and bedrooms. I was just saving for the growth of my business and to take care of my family. This is so exciting I can’t even express it”.

Forty other customers won other household electrical items like food processors, water dispensers, microwaves and LED TVs in the grand draw. This brings to one hundred and twenty-five, the total number of customers rewarded in the Access Bank Big Deal Promo.

The Managing Director of Access Bank, Mr. Dolapo Ogundimu congratulated the winners and thanked them for their patronage.

He said “saving for a rainy day is important and that is why we run these promos as part of Access Bank’s efforts to develop a culture of saving among Ghanaians.”

Mr. Ogundimu also highlighted the key strategic investments the bank is making to position itself as the bank of choice for customers.

“This year we are investing in various areas of our operations especially technology to improve our service to you our customers and to ensure that you experience quality banking service at all our touch points. Our promise to all our stakeholders is Speed, Service and Security and this will guide everything we do in 2015.”

Encouraging customers to take advantage of the various flexible current and saving options of the Bank, the Group Head for Personal Banking, Mr Stephen Abban, reiterated the Bank’s commitment to support financial empowerment of its customers.

The Chief Executive Officer of Casa Trasacco, Mr. Massimiliano C. Taricone, supporting to hand over the grand prize to the winner, expressed the company’s excitement to be associated with the Big Deal Promo.
