Accept postings to rural areas –National Service personnel told

tnNational Service Personnel have been advised to accept postings to deprived areas in the country.

“Places like Accra, Kumasi and the urban areas do not so much need your services, compared with the rural communities,” emphasised the Western Regional Director of the National Service Scheme, Mr. Ken Gyamfi, at a day’s orientation for service persons at Takoradi.

A total of 1,200 service men and women were allocated to the Western Region, and will be posted to the twenty-two districts of the region. Among them are policemen and women, Prison and other security service personnel.

Mr Gyamfi entreated them to be disciplined and hinted that some of them would be retained by the bodies and organisations they would be posted to if they were found worthy after the service.

Mr. Gyamfi asked the service women to be morally upright, and warned that HIV is still around, so they should in their prime not end their lives.

The Medical Superintendent of the Takoradi Hospital, Dr. Frederick Otu Buah gave a talk on HIV/Aids, as part of the orientation.
