President of FA Cup finalist, Okwahu United, Bryan Acheampong has presented an amount of GH¢48,000 to members of the team for qualifying to the finals of the 2015-16 FA Cup competition.
The presentation was in fulfillment of an earlier promise to players and technical members to motivate the team to qualify for the finals and subsequently win the trophy.
Okwahu came from a goal down to level the scores in regulation time before winning on 3-2 penalties against Dansoman Liberty Professionals as a winner failed to emerge after Extra Time.
Mr. Acheampong who doubles as Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency deposited the cheque for the amount in the club’s account at Fidelity Bank on Wednesday.
Confirming the gesture to the Times Sports yesterday, Administrative Manager of the club, Enoch Agyare Addo, told the Times Sports, that Mr. Acheampong has honoured his promise and has even promised more if they win the ultimate.
Giving a breakdown for the amount, Mr. Addo said, all the 18 players selected by the coach for the game will pocket an amount of Gh¢2,000 while members of the technical team also take home an amount of Gh¢1,000 each.
Players who did not take part in the game are to pocket GH¢500 for their support.
According to the club’s administrative manager, the gesture comes as a huge boost as the team prepares for the finals against Bechem United at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
“As we progress, the more difficult the task becomes but I can tell you that this motivation has gingered the team and they can’t wait to lace their boots for the final match.”
Okwahu United last won the competition three decades ago and are willing to win this year’s competition when they meet on September 4 at the New Cape Coast Stadium.
