Nine people including a military man yesterday suffered injuries following a multiple road crash at Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

An eyewitness told the Ghanaian Times that the road crash involving three vehicles occurred at about 5a.m.

According to the eyewitness a Hyundai vehicle with registration number 1135-11 on reaching the Prison junction area wrongfully overtook another vehicle and in the process rammed into a Mitsubishi pickup with number 6670-Y.

According to her, the pickup also crashed into a Mercedes Benz with number GC 6989-09, resulting in the injuries of the victims.

She said the victims who are responding to treatment were rushed to the Nsawam and Military Hospital respectively.

The road crashes brought a huge traffic on the stretch with scores of people assisting to rescue the victims.

When contacted, the Station Officer of the Nsawam Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, Chief Inspector (Chief Insp) Veronica Dorwu confirmed the story to the Ghanaian Times yesterday.

Chief Insp Dorwu said the Command had information about the accident and proceeded to the scene to assist in rescuing the victims.

She said all victims were responding to treatment at the Nsawam Government and 37 Military Hospitals.

All the vehicles have been towed to the Nsawam District Police Command while investigations were ongoing, she added.
