84 Police detectives undergo training

Mr. Prosper Agblor (seated second from right)  wth the participantsAbout 84 police personal of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are undergoing a seven-week basic detective training course at the Detective Training Academy in Accra.
Participants who are mainly from the CID headquarters and the Accra Region would be trained in criminal investigations, crime scene management, aspect of criminal law and law of evidence, statement taken among others.
At the opening ceremony, the Director General, CID of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police(COP) Prosper Agblor said the training would build capacity and skills of officers to enable them be abreast with technology.
“There is the need to continue to build the capacity of our detectives to enable them be abreast with crime trends,” he said.
According to COP Agblor, his outfit has embarked on vigorous capacity building programmes amid enhancing the investigative skills of detectives.
COP Agblor said frantic efforts have been made by authorities concerned to reduce crime to its barest minimum.
He advised participants to take their lessons seriously to enable them contribute meaningfully to societal development.
He called on the general public to continue to assist police to fight crime, adding that “fighting crime is a shared responsibility, we therefore call on the general public to continue supporting the police so that together, we make our dream nation a peaceful place to live in”.
