8 injured in head-on-collision

The two vehicles that  involed in the  accidentEIGHT people were seriously wounded when a saloon car and a mini-bus collided head-on at Nyekornakpe, on the Ho-Denu Road on Tuesday.

A team of policemen, ambulance paramedics and personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, turned up at the accident scene promptly to convey the injured to the Ho Regional Hospital.

The identities of the injured persons were not immediately disclosed.

According to eye witnesses, the red mini-bus with registration number GT 3489 – 12, which was travelling from the Aflao to Ho, was overtaking a tractor when it ran into the Toyota Corolla car, VR 593 – 12, from the opposite direction.

Both vehicles were thrown off the road due to the impact of the collision, which took place at about 7am.

Among the injured was the driver of the saloon car.

The other driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The Ghanaian Times chanced at the disturbing scene while travelling on the road to the Akatsi North District on assignment.

The mangled vehicles were later towed to the nearby Ziope Police Station.
